There are only four episodes left before “The Good Wife” says goodbye forever. In Sunday’s (March 27) episode, titled “Unmanned,” Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) finally said the words audiences have been waiting for her to say for years. “I want a divorce,” Alicia says to her husband Peter Florrick (Chris Noth).
The look on Alicia’s face before she makes this declaration is one of fierceness, a stare that could kill, if looks held such power.
Her livid reaction comes after Peter kicks her current lover, Jason Crouse (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), from her apartment. This is an act so beyond the reach of her constantly cheating, always embroiled in scandal, sad sack of a husband, that Alicia has finally had it.
There’s just one caveat. Peter knows that he is probably going to be indicted for his latest scandal and asks Alicia to hold off on the divorce filing until the trial is over. The episode ends before Alicia is given the chance to respond.
Based on how she’s currently feeling, it’s hard to imagine that Florrick will acquiesce with this deal, but Peter is still the father of their children. So no matter what she feels towards her husband, she will probably be grappling with the desire to keep her kids’ father out of jail.
Whether she helps Peter or not, a divorce is still on the table, which means Alicia is finally free. Hopefully, we can find out if her torrid love affair with Mr. Private Investigator Man will continue on. Without Alicia standing by his side, will Peter finally get what’s been coming to him? It looks like the CBS show is setting up one heck of a series finale.
What will Florrick do next? We will have to wait and see, but as it stands, Alicia is “The Good Wife” no more.
“The Good Wife” airs on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
