There are only 3 episodes left of “The Good Wife” and Sunday night’s (April 24) episode, “Party,” was one of the funniest episode in the series’ history. Alicia Florrick (Julianna Marguiles) has just been through too much over the years, so when her son Zach (Graham Phillips) announces that he’s dropping out of college to marry his older girlfriend during Howard (Jerry Adler) and Jackie’s (Mary Beth Peil) engagement party, she can’t help but laugh to the point of tears.

This party was doomed from the get-go. Instead of engagement flowers, a room full of funeral flowers were delivered, along with a cake in the shape of a cross with icing that said, “Rest in Peace.” Then after a few too many glasses of wine, Alicia’s mother, Veronica, (Stockard Channing), reveals to both Zach and Grace (Mackenzie Vega) that Alicia’s divorcing Peter (Chris Noth).

Finally, Jason (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), who gave Alicia the weirdest and least romantic present of all time, arrives at the party just as Grace calls him possibly “the worst mistake” of her mother’s life.

While Jason and Alicia’s romantic future still hangs in the balance, it’s becoming quite clear that Peter may be one guilty man. With the likelihood of Peter getting skewered in court, and Alicia going down with him, Louis Canning (Michael J. Fox) calls Alicia and encourages her to save herself and to turn her husband in.

Alicia hangs up on Canning. The lawyer in her knows that Peter deserves a fair trial, that he’s innocent until proven guilty, and that she will not be the one to turn him in, even if they are proceeding with their divorce. Laughs aside, things are about to get very real for the Florricks, as the web of people who could possibly turn against Peter continues to spin. Here’s hoping the series delivers Peter’s innocent or guilty verdict before the show comes to its final close on May 8.
“The Good Wife” airs on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
