There is no new episode of “The Bachelorette” on Monday (July 4), because it is a national holiday. The producers over at ABC assume that audiences would rather spend their day off enjoying barbecue and fireworks, instead of watching a reality TV show.

Well, think again. While it’s pretty certain that audiences will be out grilling hot dogs and hamburgers during the day, most people still need to wake up bright and early for work come Tuesday morning. Independence Day falling on a Monday pretty much kills the whole late night party aspect, and viewers will be home early Monday night. Yet, fans primed for a new “Bachelorette” to watch with have to face the harsh reality that there won’t be one.

We can’t get lost in Luke’s eyes, or laugh at Jordan Rodgers’ ridiculous hair. Not being able to settle in with a new “Bachelorette” could make many people feel just like this.

The Monday night struggle, when there is no new episode of “The Bachelorette,” is real. Not to mention, this is the second time ABC has pushed “The Bachelorette” from airing during its usual day and time. When it was revealed that there might be a Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals, JoJo and company were instantly pushed from their usual time slot. ABC then left audiences with two weeks to stew over whether or not Chad was going home. Talk about excruciating.

Let’s not mince words here: these two TV hours are insanely addicting and act as the perfect brief escape from real life. Few things are as mindlessly entertaining as watching JoJo flounder over her feelings after taking part in these awkward group dates. We could’ve watched Chad devour as much protein as possible for hours on end. Let’s not forget Derek’s tearful exit — accompanied by Evita’s “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina.” It was glorious TV Gold.

Here’s hoping real life stops getting in the way of new “Bachelorette” episodes, or it will feel like forever until we finally see the highly anticipated hometown dates. Will NFL superstar Aaron Rodgers’ make an appearance to help his baby brother woo JoJo? Are Alex’s parents also that short? Does Luke have any look-a-like brothers? Viewers are dying to know these very important things.
“The Bachelorette” returns on Monday, July 11 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
